Farewell to BUSH

And no, farewell to Bush does not mean that I am shaving. In fact, the other day in class, we had quite the conversation about Americas obsession with getting rid of body hair, washing our clothes even if they are not dirty, and an our aversion to any natural smell of the human body. We shave it off, scrub it out, and we are still a bunch of dirty Americans in our rampant pollution of the earth.

Elizabeth, a writer from Philadelphia wrote an excellent blog the other day titled The Age of Innocence is Over; she writes about our wasteful habits and the need to do our best to live green.

But I diverge.

I went to a party last night that was a farewell to Bush.

I love my bush, I love Kate Bush, I can even handle Bush Beans, and I don't mind bushwhacking, but THIS Bush has been the bane of this country and it was a joyous event to celebrate the end of his reign. He and his cronies have done much to destroy our environment, our economy, our image, and our Constitution this past 8 years, never mind sacrificed the 4,200 lives of Americans soldiers in Iraq, injured some 31,000, and killed 600,000 Iraqis Civilians. (hmmm we are getting close to Saddam Hussein's count!).

The fall out from his 8 years will be great. I have heard that the real estate market will take 20 years to recover. People lost their retirement investments,(thank God I might have a chance to recoup the 1/3 of my retirement savings that I lost in the blink of an eye) Some lost their jobs, and some are in the process of losing them still. THOUSANDS who have served in this war and survived it will come back disabled from a variety of diseases, traumas, physical injuries, and some, like PTSD, are invisible and disabling. Obama has said it will get worse before it gets better, and to fix the mess is beyond his possible 2 terms as president.

Tomorrow however, we are being given hope. Hope for an America I can be proud of. A country that thinks before it acts. A president who is intelligent and articulate and who stands for the American people, not the 9% of those who hold the wealth.

Tomorrow I will wear red, white, and blue, for the first time in my life as a show of my patriotism. I will stand proud as we swear in our new president. I pledge to do my part to help heal this country, the earth, and make the American Dream available to all, not just the wealthy few..

My words to you Mr. Bush, are farewell, and don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

So this is the Grand Finale, huh? I'm surprised it only took you only one paragraph to trash an entire 8 years. President Bush has made mistakes - he has admitted them. However no one will give him credit for no attacks on our soil in 8 years - no one gives him credit for taking out Saddam Hussein which was a noble cause. You don't mention the 500,000 lives that were saved by removing that tyrant. If you don't think we should have gone into Iraq and taken him out you must believe we should have let Musselini, Stalin, and Hitler go on - all evil maniacs - all practiced genocide. President Elect Obama is now privy to the intelligence briefings - let's see how he feels about Iraq now. I hope our new president is able to make the hard decisions he will need to make, stand by the courage of his convictions and dilute his decisions by politcal pressures or polls. I admire courage, I admire character, and I admire conviction. I hope our new president will display these qualities. Be sure to keep us all posted of all the postive decisions over the next 4 years as they occur as well as you have communicated all of your negative opinions over the last 8!!!

Perhaps the very reason we were attacked on our own soil is due to our involvement in the Middle East, and plenty of conspiracy theories still exist as to US involvement in the attacks. It is a bit fishy that "Top White House officials personally approved the evacuation of dozens of influential Saudis, including relatives of Osama bin Laden, from the United States in the days after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks when most flights were still grounded, a former White House adviser said". It is unsettling...and I am not sure that we are 100% innocent in it. If we are sooo concerned about genocide, then why aren't/weren't we involved in Africa? We get to pick and choose who we are going to let live? So far, the 500,000 lives that you say we saved, have been now taken by our own troops. WE HAVE MURDERED BETWEEN 400-700,000 Iraqi citizens, many of them women and children. How do we justify that? No one debates Stalin and Hitler, but this will be debated for some time. Bush was the laughing stock of our country. I was embarrassed every time he opened his mouth. Obama may not be perfect, but at the very least he is literate and can talk. I KNEW this would bring you out of hiding, and love you back. ms. p.

Gotta love family....

It's very weird to be in a position where I've done better than most by simply having next to nothing. I did lose a couple grand on the stock market though....dammit.

For the record, there are a number of folks "grooming the garden." Is this our generation's bra burning?

Bush will go down in history as the worst president ever. I really do hope that they assign him secret security midgets, so only his knees are protected out in public.

It will take decades to repair the damage Bush did. He wounded a generation or two both mentally and physically for his and his cohorts own gains.

The only good thing to come out of his time in office is that the public is interested and concerned again about how our country is run.
